Hosted MCP at https://capsulate.app/mcp is the recommended path.

Setup

Run this command in your terminal:
Then:
  1. Start a new Codex session.
  2. Ask Codex to inspect your Capsulate canvases or structured records.
  3. Complete the browser sign-in and permission flow when prompted.
  4. Run codex mcp list if you need to verify the saved connection.
Codex manages the OAuth tokens after you approve the connection.

Research with your own assistant

Ask: “Add a warranty column, research these products, and save the findings with sources.” The assistant should use canvas_column_preview / canvas_column_apply, do the research itself, read finding_context for each record’s exact version, then use finding_preview / finding_apply. These tools do not start Capsulate’s internal research. Your client must support the server’s write-confirmation exchange as well as OAuth. Use finding_get to recover a saved contribution after a connection interruption. Check MCP Tools for deployment availability and Troubleshooting for stale records, lost responses, and unsupported confirmation exchanges.
